Connect Meta Ads
Let AdWhiz see your Facebook and Instagram Ads data
Link your Meta (Facebook / Instagram) Ads account to AdWhiz so the AI can analyze your social media campaigns and help you improve them.
What is Meta Ads?#
Meta Ads is the advertising system that shows your ads on Facebook and Instagram. If you've ever seen a post in your Facebook or Instagram feed with the word "Sponsored" below it — that's a Meta Ad.
Meta is the company that owns both Facebook and Instagram. So when we say "Meta Ads", we mean ads that run on Facebook, Instagram, or both.
Before you start#
Make sure you have these things ready:
- An AdWhiz account — if you haven't created one yet, see Create Your Account.
- A Facebook account connected to a Meta Business Suite (this is how Meta manages ad accounts). If you don't have one, you can set it up at business.facebook.com.
- At least one ad account inside your Meta Business Suite with active or past campaigns.
Need a Meta Business account?
You need a Meta Business account (also called Meta Business Suite) to run ads on Facebook and Instagram. It's free to create. Go to business.facebook.com, sign in with your personal Facebook account, and follow the steps to create a business account. This takes about 5 minutes.
How to connect#
Open Settings
From your dashboard, click the gear icon (⚙️) in the sidebar. Scroll down to the 'Meta Ads' section on the Settings page.
Click Connect Meta Ads
Click the blue 'Connect' button next to Meta Ads. This opens a Facebook login window where you'll sign in with your Facebook account.
Grant permissions
Facebook will show you a list of permissions AdWhiz needs — mainly access to read your ad account data and page information. Review the list and click 'Continue'. AdWhiz uses read-only access by default.
Select your ad account
If your Facebook account manages multiple ad accounts, you'll see a dropdown list. Choose the ad account you want to analyze. If you only manage one, it gets selected automatically.
First Meta audit starts
AdWhiz runs your first Meta Ads audit right away. It checks creative fatigue, CPA efficiency, budget utilization, and wasted spend. Results appear on your dashboard in about 30 seconds.
Your money is safe
AdWhiz reads your ad data to give you recommendations. It will **never** spend your money, change your ads, or modify your campaigns without your explicit permission. You are always in control.
What happens after connecting?#
Once your Meta Ads account is connected, AdWhiz will:
- Run a free mini audit of your campaigns (takes about 30 seconds).
- Calculate a health score from 0 to 100 that tells you how well your Facebook and Instagram ads are doing.
- Show AI-powered recommendations — simple tips on how to improve, like pausing ad sets with high costs or increasing budget on your best-performing creatives.
- Update your data daily so your scores and recommendations stay current.
Head to Your First Audit to learn more about what the audit results mean.
Helpful terms#
Here are a few Meta Ads terms you might see on the dashboard:
| Term | Simple explanation |
|---|---|
| Campaign | A group of ads with a shared goal (like getting more website visitors or more purchases). |
| Ad Set | A sub-group inside a campaign. Each ad set defines who sees your ads (the audience) and how much you spend. |
| Creative | The actual image, video, or text that people see in their feed. A good creative catches attention and gets clicks. |
| CPM | Cost Per Mille — how much you pay for 1,000 people to see your ad. "Mille" means 1,000 in Latin. |
| Reach | The total number of unique people who saw your ad. Unlike impressions, reach counts each person only once. |
| Meta Pixel | A small piece of code on your website that tells Meta when someone visits or buys something. It helps Meta show your ads to the right people. |
Switching between Google Ads and Meta Ads#
If you have both Google Ads and Meta Ads connected, you can easily switch between them. Look for the platform selector at the top of your dashboard — it shows a green "G" icon for Google Ads and a blue "f" icon for Meta Ads. Click to switch.
Each platform has its own health score, recommendations, and audit results. AdWhiz keeps them separate so the advice is always relevant to the platform you're looking at.
Troubleshooting#
Having trouble connecting? Here are the most common issues:
| Problem | Solution |
|---|---|
| "No ad accounts found" | Make sure you signed in with the Facebook account that is linked to your Meta Business Suite. Your personal Facebook account may not have any ad accounts attached. |
| "Permission denied" | You may not have the right role on the ad account. In Meta Business Suite, go to Settings > People and make sure your role is "Admin" or "Advertiser". |
| The pop-up window doesn't appear | Your browser might be blocking pop-ups. Look for a small blocked-popup icon in your address bar and click "Allow". |
| I connected but no data is showing | If your ad account is brand new or has no past campaigns, there may not be any data to analyze yet. Run at least one campaign first, then reconnect. |
| Something else went wrong | Try signing out of both AdWhiz and Facebook, clearing your browser cookies, and starting over. If the problem continues, email us at support@adwhiz.ai. |
