Your First Audit
A health check-up for your online ads
Learn what an ad audit is, how it works, and what your health score and recommendations mean — explained in plain, simple language.
What is an audit?#
An audit is like a health check-up — but for your online ads instead of your body. Just like a doctor checks your heart rate, blood pressure, and weight, AdWhiz checks your ads to see how they're doing.
At the end of the check-up, you get a clear report that tells you what's healthy, what's not, and exactly what you can do to improve.
What does AdWhiz check during an audit?#
AdWhiz looks at several important parts of your advertising account:
- **Wasted spend** — Are you paying for clicks or views that never turn into customers? AdWhiz finds the keywords, audiences, or ads that are eating your budget without results.
- **Best and worst performers** — Which campaigns are making you money, and which ones are losing money? AdWhiz ranks them so you can see clearly.
- **Cost efficiency** — How much are you paying for each result? AdWhiz checks your CPA (cost per action) and ROAS (return on ad spend) to see if you're getting good value.
- **Budget utilization** — Are you using your daily budget wisely, or is money sitting unused? AdWhiz checks if your budget is being spent effectively.
- **Keyword and audience health** — For Google Ads, it checks your keyword Quality Scores. For Meta Ads, it checks for creative fatigue (when people have seen your ad so many times they stop paying attention).
How to run your first audit#
Good news — you don't have to press any buttons! The audit runs automatically as soon as you connect your ad account.
Connect your ad account
If you haven't connected an ad platform yet, you'll see a prompt on your dashboard with big 'Connect Google Ads' and 'Connect Meta Ads' buttons. Click whichever one you use. Follow the sign-in steps (see our Connect Google Ads or Connect Meta Ads guides).
Wait about 30 seconds
Once connected, AdWhiz automatically begins scanning your account. You'll see a loading bar with a message like 'Analyzing your campaigns…'. This usually takes less than a minute.
See your results
When done, your dashboard updates with three things: a health score (0–100), a list of recommendations, and a spend overview chart. Scroll down to explore each section.
The mini audit is completely FREE
Your first audit (called the "mini audit") costs nothing and runs in about 30 seconds. There's no trial period and no credit card required. You can run it as many times as you want!
Understanding your health score#
After the audit, you'll see a number from 0 to 100. This is your ad health score. Think of it like a grade on a test:
| Score | What it means | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| 80–100 | Excellent! Your ads are in great shape. | Keep doing what you're doing. Check back weekly for small improvements. |
| 60–79 | Good, but there's room to improve. | Look at the recommendations below your score. A few small changes can make a big difference. |
| 40–59 | Fair. Some things need attention. | Focus on the top 2–3 recommendations first. These will have the biggest impact on your results. |
| 0–39 | Needs work. Your ads may be wasting money. | Don't panic! This just means there are clear opportunities to improve. Follow the recommendations step by step. |
Your health score updates every day as AdWhiz re-checks your data. So if you make improvements, you'll see your score go up!
Understanding your recommendations#
Below your health score, you'll see a list of recommendations. Each one tells you something specific you can do to improve your ads. For example:
- "Pause keyword 'free software' — it spent $120 with zero conversions." This means you're paying for clicks from people searching for free things who are unlikely to buy.
- "Increase budget on Campaign 'Summer Sale' — it has a 5x ROAS." This means for every $1 you spend on this campaign, you get $5 back. Spending more here makes sense!
- "Add negative keyword 'jobs' — 15% of clicks come from job seekers." This means people searching for jobs are clicking your ads by mistake, wasting your money.
You don't have to follow every recommendation. Start with the ones at the top — they're sorted by impact, so the most important ones come first.
Want more detail? Get the full report#
The free mini audit gives you a quick overview. But if you want a deep, detailed analysis, you can order a Full Audit Report for $99 (one-time purchase).
The full report is a professionally formatted PDF document that includes:
- A detailed breakdown of every campaign, ad group, and keyword (or ad set and creative for Meta)
- Specific dollar amounts you could save by making changes
- Competitor benchmarks — how your numbers compare to the industry average
- A prioritized action plan you can follow step by step
- Charts and graphs that make the data easy to understand
The full report is optional
You don't need to buy the full report to use AdWhiz. The free mini audit and daily health scores are included with every account. The full report is there if you want a deeper analysis or need a professional document to share with your team or clients.
What's next?#
Now that you've completed your first audit, here are some things you can do:
- **Review your recommendations** — start with the top one and work your way down.
- **Ask the AI** — go to the AI Chat and ask questions like "What should I fix first?" or "Why is my CPA so high?"
- **Check back tomorrow** — AdWhiz updates your health score every day, so you can track your progress over time.
- **Connect another platform** — if you use both Google Ads and Meta Ads, connect the other one to get a complete picture.
