Connect Google Ads
Let AdWhiz see your Google Ads data
Link your Google Ads account to AdWhiz so the AI can analyze your campaigns, find wasted spend, and give you clear recommendations.
What is Google Ads?#
Google Ads is a tool from Google that lets you show advertisements to people when they search on Google or browse websites. If you've ever seen a result at the top of Google marked "Sponsored" — that's a Google Ad.
By connecting your Google Ads account, you let AdWhiz look at your ad data (like how much you're spending and how your ads are performing). This is how AdWhiz finds problems and suggests improvements.
Before you start#
Make sure you have these things ready:
- An AdWhiz account — if you haven't created one yet, see Create Your Account.
- A Google Ads account with at least one campaign. If you don't have a Google Ads account yet, you can create one for free at ads.google.com.
- Admin or Manager access to the Google Ads account. If someone else owns the account, ask them to give you access first.
You must be an admin or manager
AdWhiz can only connect to Google Ads accounts where you have admin or manager permissions. If you only have "read-only" or "email-only" access, the connection will fail. Ask the account owner to upgrade your access level in Google Ads under Tools > Access and Security.
How to connect#
Open Settings
From your dashboard, click the gear icon (⚙️) in the left sidebar or top-right corner. This takes you to the Settings page where you manage all your connections.
Click Connect Google Ads
On the Settings page, you'll see a section called 'Google Ads'. Click the blue 'Connect' button. This will open a Google sign-in window.
Allow access
Google will show you a permissions screen listing what AdWhiz needs access to (your ad campaigns and performance data). Review the permissions and click 'Allow'. AdWhiz only reads your data — it cannot change your ads without your permission.
Select your ad account
If you have more than one Google Ads account, you'll see a list. Pick the account you want AdWhiz to monitor. If you only have one account, it will be selected automatically.
Automatic first audit
Once connected, AdWhiz immediately starts your first audit. You'll see a progress bar. This usually takes 30 to 60 seconds. When it's done, your health score and recommendations appear on the dashboard.
Your money is safe
AdWhiz reads your ad data to give you recommendations. It will **never** spend your money, change your bids, or modify your campaigns without your explicit permission. You are always in control.
What happens after connecting?#
Once your Google Ads account is connected, AdWhiz will:
- Run a free mini audit of your campaigns (takes about 30 seconds).
- Calculate a health score from 0 to 100 — this tells you how well your ads are doing overall.
- Show AI-powered recommendations — simple suggestions on how to improve, like pausing underperforming keywords or reallocating budget to your best campaigns.
- Update your data daily so your health score and recommendations stay fresh.
Head to Your First Audit to learn more about what the audit results mean and how to act on them.
Helpful terms#
Here are a few Google Ads terms you might see on the dashboard:
| Term | Simple explanation |
|---|---|
| Campaign | A group of ads with a shared goal and budget. For example, a campaign to promote your online store. |
| CPC | Cost Per Click — how much you pay each time someone clicks your ad. |
| CTR | Click-Through Rate — the percentage of people who see your ad and click it. |
| Impressions | The number of times your ad was shown to someone. |
| Quality Score | A grade from Google (1–10) that rates how relevant your ad is. Higher is better. |
Troubleshooting#
Having trouble connecting? Here are the most common issues and how to fix them:
| Problem | Solution |
|---|---|
| "No accounts found" | Make sure you signed in with the same Google account that owns your Google Ads. If someone else owns the account, ask them to invite you as a manager. |
| "Access denied" | You may only have read-only access. Ask the account owner to give you admin or standard access in Google Ads (Tools > Access and Security). |
| The pop-up window doesn't appear | Your browser may be blocking pop-ups. Look for a small blocked-popup icon in your address bar and click "Allow". |
| Something else went wrong | Try signing out of AdWhiz, clearing your browser cookies, and signing back in. If the problem continues, email us at support@adwhiz.ai. |
